The term Swaraj can mean self-rule which was first applied by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj to achieve self-rule from the Mughal Empire and the Adil Shahi Sultanate. The term Swaraj was later used by Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati and Mahatma Gandhi to mean home rule but the term sends to Gandhi’s Idea of Indian independence from external supremacy. On this occasion, the India Post Department issued a set of two Miniature Sheets. The word Swaraj only stresses self-rule. Swaraj is against the political and social system adopted by Britain. Gandhi’s concept of Swaraj advocated the abandonment of British political, economic, military and educational institutions by India.
