Terracotta Temples of India is a Historical and famous collection of Temple in India. It is located in Bishnupur, Bankura district of West Bengal, India. Bishnupur town is famous for the terracotta temple the all over world Terracotta Temples of India. It was built by The Malla ruler during the 17th and 18th. All temples were made from locally available laterite stones, it was the oldest building material in India. Due to the lack and inadequacy of the stone, the structure of the temple was created with the help of baked clay. Department of India Post has allotted a set of seven stamps and a miniature sheet on Terracotta Temples of India. Five postage stamps are of Rupees 5 Denomination and two postage stamps are Rupees 12 denomination. These stamps depict Indralath Temple of Ranipur, Madan Mohan Temple of Bishnupur, Jor Bangla Temple of Bishnupur, Lalji Temple of Kalna, Nebiya Khera Temple of Bhadwara, Lakshman Temple of Sirpur, Shyam Rai Temple of Bishnupur.
