Temple inscriptions suggest that Jayadeva received his education in Sanskrit poetry from a place called Kurmapataka in Konark, Odisha. Inscriptions reveal that Jayadeva was a member of the teaching faculty of the school at Kurmapataka. He also studied at Kurmapatka. It was only after his childhood education in Kenduli village that he moved to Kurmapataka and gained experience in poetry and music. The poems written by Jayadeva have been published by the Directorate of Culture, Odisha. Jayadeva is considered one of the earliest composers of Odissi music. Jayadeva was a Sanskrit poet of the 12th century. He is best known for his epic poem Geetagovinda. This poem presents the idea that Radha is greater than Krishna. He was a Hindi monk famous for his poetic talent in India. Jayadeva is the oldest author of the hymns that comprise the Guru Granth Sahib. There is a religion established in the Indian subcontinent after his death. The Geetagovinda suggests that he was born in the village of “Kindubilva”. Scholars identify this place with a present-day village in his region, including Kenduli Sasan near Puri in Odisha, Jayadeva Kenduli in Birbhum district in West Bengal are included.
