28-06-1975: Michelangelo Miniature Sheet

Michelangelo Miniature Sheet was released on 28th June 1975 by the Department of Indian Post. This miniature sheet contains one stamp. The stamp of this miniature sheet is printed in se-tenant sheet, it contains 4 blocks in the one sheet, creating 2 composite designs in horizontal pairs. The stamp design is based on the painting of Michelangelo.   It was released to mark the celebration of the 500^th Birth Anniversary of Michelangelo. This anniversary date refers to an event that took place or an organization was founded in a previous year, it may also refer to the celebration of that event.  For Example, the first event is the initial happening or, if planned to inaugurate the event then one year later it would be the first anniversary of that event. Same Michelangelo also celebrates the 500^th Birth Anniversary. This method was first used for Catholic feasts to commemorate saints. The anniversary date in a sitting monarch’s reign may also be commemorated, an event often represented as a “Jubilee”.
