Slovenian President Danilo Turk visited New Delhi in February 2010 and met the Prime Minister. He also participated in the 10th Delhi Sustainability Summit organized by TERI. Slovenia’s Prime Minister Borut Pahor opened four consulates in 2011 headed by Honorary Consulates in Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai and Bangalore. A joint issue is a stamp, miniature Sheet issued by two or more countries to commemorate diplomatic relations. Joint issues have the same first day of issue and their design is often identical except for country and value identification. On 18th May 1992, Diplomatic relations were established when Slovenian Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel visited India. Slovenia joined the United Nations on 23th May 1992. Slovenia requested membership in the United Nations as well as membership in the Non-Aligned Movement and received India’s support. On 1st August 2002, Slovenia opened its embassy in New Delhi. The embassy was initially headed by a chargé d’affaires but was upgraded to the ambassadorial level in 2009.
