The present time, the headquarters of CPCRI Coconut, Arecanut and Cocoa is located at Kasaragod, Kerala and it has two regional stations at Kayamkulam and Vittal. There are four research centres for this, West Bengal, Kahikuchi and Karnataka. The All India Coordinated Coconut and Arecanut Improvement Project started functioning in Kasaragod in 1972 and were later renamed the All India Coordinated Research Project on Palm in 1986. The Central Plantation Crops Research Institution (CPCRI) was founded in 1916 as the Central Coconut Research Station and was later taken under the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). On this occasion, Indian Post Department released a set of two Miniature Sheets which is named ICAR Plantation CROPS Miniature Sheets. Indian Council of Agricultural Research founded the CPCRI in 1970 by Combination the Central Coconut Research Stations at Kasaragod and Kayamkulam as well as the Central Arecanut Research Station, Vittal and Kerala, Karnataka West Bengal and Assam. CPCRI centres for spices, cashew, oil and agriculture were upgraded to independent institutes.
