On International Women’s Day, the Geneva Center for Control of the Armed Forces and the United Nations Population Fund released a set of four Miniature sheets. There are myriad forms of violence against women, with additional footage from the Democratic Republic of the Congo in Switzerland, France, Ethiopia, Herzegovina, Kosovo and India. Specifically highlights trafficking, female genital mutilation, domestic violence and rape during conflict. In accordance with the Multi-Year Program on the Status of Women, the Commission considered all forms of discrimination. The first Women’s Day celebration, called National Women’s Day, was held in New York City on February 28, 1909, by the Socialist Party of America at the offer of Theresa Malkiel.
