Mahatma Gandhi was appointed leader of the Congress in 1920 on 31 December. In 1929 Mahatma Gandhi unfurled the flag of India at Lahore. In 1930 Mahatma Gandhi launched salt Satyagraha as Dandi March for breaking Salt Law From 12 March to 6 April, where Mahatma Gandhi and 78 people marched 388 kilometers from Ahmadabad to Dandi, Gujrat to prepare salt himself. In 1930 Congress did not support Raj when Germany confirmed victory in September 1939 without any discussion. Pressures escalated until a request for instant independence in 1942 with India undertaking. In August 1947 the British divided the land with India and Pakistan both attaining independence on terms completely against Gandhi and several other leaders.
