Blue-throated Macaws live in the Savannah forests and is one of the rarest parrots in the World. Recent population surveys for this species estimates that about 350 – 400 individuals remain in the wild. It is listed on the International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources (IUCN)’s Red List as Critically Endangered. It is also listed in the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES), an International Treaty that controls International Trade. The Blue-throated Macaws have largely bright yellow under-parts with pale blue vent. Upper-parts are turquoise-blue, slightly duller on crown and brighter on rump.
