Fakir Mohan College, Balasore was the unique and only college in Odisha before the independence of India. Initially, this college was controlled by the Erstwhile Zila School. In 1961 this college was moved into a new building. In 1949, the college name changed to Fakir Mohan College to respect Late Fakir Mohan Senapati, who was the great Oriya poet and novelist. The college include authorization by NAAC in 2006 and also include B++ and re-authorization in 2014.

Description
Fakir Mohan College is a popular institution of higher education in Odisha. On 6 July 1944 Fakir Mohan College was started as a Baleshwar College. Initially, this college was started as a second Grade College with 96 seats allotted for Intermediate students in Arts. The Bachelor of Arts class started in 1946. And The Intermediate in Science class was started in 1948. After more than a decade, the Bachelor of Science class was introduced in 1961-62. Now, this college provides education of Arts, Science and Commence up to graduate level.
