06-10-2021 : A Postage stamp on DECCAN COLLEGE BICENTENARY


DECCAN COLLEGE BICENTENARY was established on 6th October 1821 by the name of The Hindu College. It was established by the Bombay Presidency Government at the request of Maratha Sardar. The college developed as one of the leading institutes for higher education, training and research. On 7th June 1851, it was renamed as The Poona College. After some time in October 1864, its name changed to Deccan College. On 23rd March 1868, College was shifted to a new place near Yerawada.
