On 14 February 1829 John and his wife Margaret arrived in Bombay. There are boys and girls of all castes and classes. John Wilson was a linguist, an orientalist as well as an author. It is the institution where education was opened for the first time to girls and boys of lower and upper castes. For many years both the school and college sections were running in one building. These days Wilson College is one of the few colleges in Mumbai which offer a variety of subjects in the Science, Arts, and Vocational stream.
