Isabella Thoburn College is an educational institution for women located in Lucknow, India. The college is named after its founder, Isabella Thoburn. She arrived in India in 1869 as the first Women’s American missionary of the Methodist Episcopal Church. Isabella Thoburn College was founded in 1870 by Isabella Thoburn with just six students in a room in Aminabad Bazaar, Lucknow. Considering its specialty, the Indian Postal Department issued a postage stamp in its name.This school expanded its facilities and shifted to a residence called Lal Bagh. On July 12, 1886, the name of Miss Thoburn’s school was changed to Lucknow Female College.
