16-11-2008: Birth Centenary of Bommireddi Narasimha Reddy Indian Stamp


Bomireddy Narasimha Reddy, originally known as B.N. Reddy.  He was an Indian film director and producer. He was the first man in Telugu cinema. V. Nagayya played the lead role in films like Vande Mataram and Deva. B.N Reddy was the first person to outshine the Dadasaheb Phalke Award from South India, and he was also the first Indian film personality to receive the Doctor of Letter Honour. Bommireddy Narasimha Reddy was born to a farmer family in Kothapali village on November 16, 1908. His father’s name was Narasimha Reddy, and he used to export onions from Chennai for a living.
