The name Godiji Parshvanath is linked to several depictions and shrines dedicated to the Jain Tirthankara Parshvanath across India. Parshvanath, the 23rd Tirthankara of Jainism, attained Nirvana in 777 BC. The most famous of the Jain temples is the Godiji Temple located at Pydhonie, Mumbai. Seth Amichand of Khambhat settled in Mumbai and built a temple in his house. In 1803, a fire incident occurred at the Griha Jinalaya, prompting the relocation of the temple to the Pydhonie area. In 2012, a postage stamp was unveiled by Milind Deora, the then Minister of State for Communications and IT, during the 200th anniversary celebrations of the Godiji temple.
