The Nabakalebara is an ancient ritual associated with Lord Jagannath’s temple of puri when the idols of the Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra, Subhadra and Sudarshan are replaced by a new set of Idol. It is believed that a year which has two months of Ashadha as per the Hindu calendar is auspicious for conducting the ceremony. This usually occurs within twelve to nineteen years.
