Beant Singh was congress leader and chief minister of Punjab from 1992 to 1995. In the words of the prime minister of India, Manmohan Singh, Sardar Beant Singh, as the chief minister of Punjab, fought hard for the restoration of normalcy in the state. On 18 December 2013, the department of posts issued a postage stamp in honour of Sardar Beant Singh. He was born on 19 February 1922 in Patiala, Punjab and later moved to Bilaspur village in Doraha Tehsil of Ludhiana district shifted to village kotli of the same district.
