Devaneya Pavanar was an Indian scholar also known as G. Devaneyan Sanamuttan Tevaneyan. He was born on 7 February 1902 in Tamil Nadu, India. He was famous throughout the country for his contribution to Tamil language and literature. He wrote more than 35 research volumes in the Tamil field and was a leading supporter of the Pure Tamil movement. In 1996, Deveneya Pavanar proposed in the Primary Classical Languages of the World. At that time Tamil was the most natural and oldest language in the world. Appreciating Devaneya Pavanar, the Indian Postal Department released a postage stamp in his honor.
