Delhi Gate is located in the southern gate of the historic walled city of Old Delhi or Shahjahanabad. This gate links within the New Delhi City with the Old walled city of Delhi. This gate was built by Ruler Shah Jahan in 1838. King always used this gate to go to the Jama Masjid for prayers. Simultaneously, the Delhi gate is very similar in design and architecture to the northern gate of the walled city towards Kashmere Gate. this gate was made up of sandstone and is an impression with a large structure.

Beside the gate entry, there are two stone carvings of elephants that were constructed. The road from the gate passes through Daryaganj which leads to Kashmere Gate. Some part of the fort wall to the east has been demolished to build the Old Delhi Railway Station while the fort wall to the west exists.
