DR. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy won from the same constituency in the 1985 elections and became the state president of the Congress Party, appointed by Indira Gandhi. He served as the Leader of the Opposition in the Andhra Pradesh State Assembly from 1999 to 2004 and won from Pulivendula in the 1999 assembly elections. Rajasekhara Reddy went missing in the Nallamala forest area on 2 September 2009. And then when the accident was confirmed, all five people on board, including him, were declared dead. Yeduguri Sandinti Rajasekhara Reddy was a prominent Indian politician who served as the 14th Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh from 2004 to 2009. DR. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy was born on 8th July 1949 in a Christian Reddy family in Cuddapah district of Madras State (now Andhra Pradesh). He completed his medical studies and worked as a medical officer at CSI-Campbell Mission Hospital, Jammalamadugu. Rajasekhara Reddy joined the Indian National Congress in 1978 and won the Pulivendula election. He held various ministerial positions including rural development, excise and education. The India Post Department issued a postage stamp in his honor
