Mars is the 4th planet from the Sun, orbiting it in 687(Earth) days. It is the second-smallest planet in the Solar System after Mercury. Mars is approximately half the diameter of Earth. Mars is less dense than Earth, having about 15% of Earth’s volume and 11% of earth’s mass resulting in about 38% of Earth’s surface gravity. Mars surface temperatures vary from lows of about -143⁰C at the winter polar caps to highs of up to 35⁰C in equatorial summer.
