Chattri Memorial is a First World War monument of Indian Soldiers. In the First World War many Indian corps were injured on the Western Front. All injured corps were addmitted to hospital in towns near the south coast of England. One of the place used was the Brighton Pavilion, which was changed into a temporary military hospital. 74 Indian corps were martyred in Brighton’s military hospitals. The Chattri Memoiral was created by the people of Brighton to respect the India Army of the First World War and it was inaugurated in 1921.

Chattri Memorial was created at the same place where the funeral pyres were made for the burning of the 53 corps. This is an isolated, peaceful place on the South Downs, 500 feet (150 m) overhead Brighton. It provide supervising of the city and the sea. The only entry to the monument is from a route between the A27 Brighton Bypass at Patcham and the Clayton Windmills. The Chattri is located at the north edge of the City of Brighton and Hove, on the edge with the Mid Sussex district of West Sussex.
