The Gallipoli campaign was an army movement in the First World War, that happen on the Gallipoli peninsula (Gelibolu in modern Turkey). It was started on 17 February 1915 and Ended on 9 January 1916. The purpose of the Gallipoli campaign was to force the way of the Dardanelles and get a navy of British and French to Constantinople and to force for the surrender of Turkey for the quick decision of the war in the Middle East.

The Gallipoli campaign was an expensive movement for the Entente Power and the Ottoman Empire. It was considered a great Ottoman victory. The Indian Expeditionary Force ‘G’ that take part in the Dardanelles, was not very big in number, but it had an important impact upon the progression of the movement. The big contribution of the Indian Expeditionary Force was the 14th Sikhs in the third battle of Krithia and the 1/6th Gurkhas in the climactic Battle of Sari Bair.
