Lt. H. S. Malik was the first Indian High Commissioner Officer to Canada, into a combatant arm. He joined No. 23 Squad, Royal Flying Corps (RFC) in France and was awarded for his work in First World War. In the German war, a bullet was shot in his leg, He lived with the bullet in his leg till his death. . After Independence, He was appointed India’s Ambassador to France. He appeared in 18 first-class Cricket Matches from 1914 to 1930.

Lieutenant Hardit Sing Malik was born on 23 November 1894 at Rawalpindi, Punjab, British India(now in Punjab, Pakistan).He was the son of Sardar Bahadur Mohan Singh and Sardarni Lajvanti. He moved to England when he was 14 years old. He joined a prep school and the Eastbourne College. He graduated in history at Balliol College in 1912-1915. He also received an Oxford blue in golf. He was selected as a Flying Officer in No. 26 squad on 12 July 1917. After the End of the First World War, he returned to India in April 1919.
