20-08-2019 : The Postage Stamp on Menin Gate Memorial from First World War

Menin Gate Memorial was designed by Sir Reginald Blomfield in 1921 and constructed by the Imperial War Graves Commission. It was revealed on 24 July 1927. It was situated at the eastern exit of the Ypres and symbols the initial point for one of the paths out of the Ypres that directed allied fighters to the front line. The eastern exit of Ypres simply cut over the rest of the walls and crossed a moat. The gateway was known as Menenpoort, or Menin Gate in English because of the path leading through the gateway to the small town of Menen.
