Ramgopal Maheshwari was born on 20th November 1911 in Mandolai, near Jaipur, Rajasthan. He was deeply influenced by the ideas of Mahatma Gandhi. Due to which he joined the freedom movement at an early age. He took inspiration from Shri Krishnadas Jaju, a disciple of Mahatma Gandhi at the age of 22. He started his career as a journalist by editing and publishing Maheshwari, the official publication of the Ramgopal Maheshwari community. Remembering his contributions, the Indian Postal Department issued an India stamp on his name. On 8th February 1934, Ramgopal Maheshwari started the bi-weekly newspaper ‘Navbharat’ in Nagpur. ‘Navbharat’ became a major medium of the Indian independence movement.
