Indian politician Rajiv Gandhi was born on 20 August 1944 in Bombay to Indira Gandhi and Feroze Gandhi. Renewable Energy Day was inaugurated on 20 August 2004, on the occasion of Rajiv Gandhi’s 60th birth Anniversary. On this occasion, Indian Post issued a postage stamp. The event was organized by former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in collaboration with the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy Sources (MNRE) in New Delhi.
