The army of Rao Tula Ram and under the command of Rao Kishan Singh, fought the British at Nasibpur near Narnaul on 16 November 1857. Due to this the British army got scattered and their officers suffered casualties. The British regrouped and retaliated, forcing Rao Tula Ram to retreat to Rajasthan. Rao Tula Ram launched a diplomatic mission to seek support from foreign powers against British colonial dominance. He contacted Mohammad Khan of Iran and Emperor Alexander II of Russia for assistance. Despite his efforts, the British confiscated his property in 1859. Rao Tula Ram died in Kabul, Afghanistan on 23 September 1863 of a severe infection. Rao Tula Ram Singh was a key figure in the Indian Rebellion of 1857 in Haryana. On 9 December 1825, he was born in the Rampura suburb of Rewari to Gyan Kaur and Puran Singh. He became an orphan at an early age due to the death of his father. On 17 May 1857, Rao Tula Ram, along with his cousin Rao Gopal Dev, deposed the local Tehsildar and took control of Rewari. He then organized an army of about 5000 soldiers and established a workshop for arms production. In recognition of his valor in the struggle against colonial rule, the Government of India issued Rao Tula Ram of Rewari (Leader of 1st War of Independence) India Stamp.
