Gulab Singh Lodhi also participated in a procession at Lucknow which marched to the Aminabad Park for hoisting the tri-color in August but the park was surrounded by the British troops because they want to prevent the hoisting of the flag. Gulab Singh went against the show of armed force and climbed a tree with the tri-color. When he was hoisting the flag on the top of the tree, he was shot dead by a British officer.
