Ram Charan Agrawal who is still fondly known as Lalaji. He was born on December 2, 1917 in Najibabad, Uttar Pradesh, in a family of individuals dedicated to the cause of India’s independence. Ram Charan Agrawal was greatly influenced by the ideology and teachings of Mahatma Gandhi. In view of his contributions towards the nation, on 25 July 2009, Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar released this postal stamp in New Delhi. At the age of 19, he played the role of treasurer in Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee. His involvement in the independence movement led to his initial arrest in 1939, followed by imprisonment in 1942 and 1945. Ram Charan Agarwal Was one of the eleven persons selected by Mahatma Gandhi from Delhi to participate in the Individual Satyagraha.
