Ram Charan Agrawal was nominated by the Indian National Congress to contest elections from Maliwada constituency in Delhi Municipal Committee in 1951, winning both times. In 1958, he emerged victorious in the MCD elections and became the first Deputy Mayor of Delhi. Ram Charan Agrawal stressed the urgency of cleaning the Yamuna River and advocated measures to stop the flow of sewage into the river. Due to some reason, he died on 25 July 1977.
