Chaudhary Devi Lal was an eminent Indian politician and statesman, who was famous for his significant contribution to the political scene of the country. He held the respected position of the sixth Deputy Prime Minister of India for two different terms. On 25 September 2001, the Chaudhary Devi Lal India stamp was issued by the Indian Postal Department on the occasion of his birthday. He served as the Chief Minister of Haryana during the period from 1987 to 1989. Along with being a prominent figure in Indian politics, he was also the founder of the Indian National Lok Dal. He was fondly called Tau, which means uncle.
