25-11-2022: 175 years of IIT Roorkee India Stamp

India serves as a knowledge base for science and technology having many institutions with trained manpower. IITs have played a very valued role in the science and technology-based economy in India as well as abroad. IIT Roorkee India’s better past in today’s time India’s oldest Thomson Engineering College emerged from the waters of the Ganga. IIT Roorkee has a huge role in India and abroad, on this occasion, the Indian Postal Department released 175 years of the IIT Roorkee India stamp on the completion of 175 years. The Bengal Engineers College was started by Lieutenant Baird Smith in Saharanpur in 1845 to train Indian youth in civil engineering, and 20 Indian youth were admitted in 1846.
