Arvind N. Mafatlal was born on 27th October 1923 in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. He received his education at St. Xavier’s High School and Sydenham College in Mumbai. He was the proud heir to a significant business legacy. Which was established in 1905 by his entrepreneurial grandfather, Mr. Mafatlal Gagalbhai. The Indian Postal Department released a commemorative postage stamp in honor of the 100th birth anniversary of Arvind N. Mafatlal. He took over the leadership of Mafatlal Group of Companies in 1955 and guided its growth with a remarkable strategy. In 1968, he established India’s inaugural integrated petrochemical complex through two pioneering joint ventures.

Description
Arvind N. Mafatlal additionally founded two major chemical enterprises, Standard Alkalies Limited and Navin Fluorine Industries Company. Through these ventures, he took the textile business within the group to new heights. In 1968, Arvind N. Mafatlal took over the chairmanship of Shri Sadguru Seva Sangh Trust established by his Gurudev. Their aim was to alleviate the suffering of vulnerable persons affected by drought. He saved the lives of lakhs of people in remote areas of Maharashtra and Gujarat. Sadhguru Trust also established several eye hospitals and schools in the interior areas of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. On 30th October 2011, Arvind N.
