The International Year of Crystallography is an event promoted by the United Nations in 2014 to celebrate the centenary of X-ray crystallography’s discovery and emphasize the global huge of crystallography in human being life. Modern crystallography was born about 100 years ago when Max von Lau conducted experiments showing that X-rays were diffracted by crystals, and Braggs (father and son) showed shortly in 1913 that x-rays were diffracted by crystals.
