Fashion is one of the most popular modes of expression. 5th millennium BC in the Indus Valley Civilization. India was one of the first places where cotton was cultivated and used even as early as 2500 BC during the Harappan era. Dating back to the Mohenjo-daro civilization the earliest preliminary version was found in the statue of Mother Goddess Wearing. During the Mauryan Period the most common attire of the people was antariya which they used to wear as a lower garment. A cloth was covered in lehnga style to a form a tubular skirt. As an upper garment people’s main garb was uttariya a long scraf.
