Dayanand Saraswati was born on 12th February 1824, in Tankara village of Morbi district in the state of Gujarat. He was born into a Brahmin family. His childhood name was Mulshankar. His father Karshanji Lalji Tiwari raised him as a strict Brahminist from the age of fifty-five. Mulshankar left home at the age of nineteen in search of true knowledge and became a monk at the age of 24 and was named Dayanand Saraswati. Indian Postal Department released a Dayanand Saraswati postage stamp praising the great social work of Dayanand Saraswati. Dayanand Saraswati’s first teacher was Swami Virjanand Saraswati, a Sanskrit scholar from Mathura. After the completion of Dayanand Saraswati’s education, Virjanand took a promise from him that he would work to spread the truth all over the world.
