Laxmi Mall Singhvi was a lawyer before winning the election to Parliament in 1962 as an independent candidate from Jodhpur. During his five-year term as MP, his presence in court was essentially limited to the demands of Parliament and working in his constituency. He later returned to his law practice in full but left his practice in the district court to start practice in the Rajasthan High Court and the Supreme Court of India. He died in New Delhi on 6 October 2007 after a brief illness. The National Law University School of Constitutional Law in Jodhpur is named after Dr Laxmi Mall Singhvi. Laxmi Mall Singhvi was an Indian jurist and constitutional. He was the second longest-serving High Commissioner for India to the United Kingdom, having been awarded the Padma Bhushan in 1998. Laxmi Mall Singhvi was born in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, in a Jain family. He had two brothers and two sisters. Laxmi Mall Singhvi was a gold medalist in BA from Allahabad University and did LLB and MA from Jaipur University. He was the first Rotary Scholar from Rajasthan to LLM at Harvard University. After then, he did his L.L.D. in a record 2 years at the Cornell University of America.
